Sunset walks – Oasis Le Cesine

The last eco-art activity that was organized in the frame of Antigone’s Pride Performing Society project in the Residence in Lecce, coordinated by Astragali Teatro, was the “Sunset Walks” in the natural reserve WWF oasis Le Cesine di Vernole. The activity started with a walk inside the beautiful nature reserve, where there are many different species of trees and plants. The scientific staff that is working in this park has created an application to listen to the voices of the trees, as explained by Giuseppe De Matteis, the responsible of the natural reserve WWF oasis Le Cesine. The activity was open to the public, so the participants of the project together with other people, had the chance to tour inside this green, natural oasis, to get in touch with nature and to listen to stories about this unique natural reserve intertwined with Ovid’s ‘Metamorphoses’ legends of women and men transformed into plants. They had the opportunity also to make birdwatching  In the second part of the activity, the participants entered in the beautiful traditional building Masseria inside the natural park, where a dialogue between art, environment and cultures was created with the interventions by experts in environmental issues such as Giuseppe De Matteis, the responsible of the nature reserve WWF oasis Le Cesine, Maria Teresa Santoro, art historian, light designer, co-creator of the music project ‘Plants Dub’, Francesco Minnone, biologist and director of Parco Costa Otranto-Leuca and Giorgio Ruggeri, responsible of Parco dei Paduli.
