Masterclasses in live streaming

The last Eco-Art Residence of the Antigone’s Pride Performing Society project is named as “Social Theatre and Gender Equality” in Lecce and is coordinated by Astragali Teatro and will start with the organization of three online masterclasses focused on the multiple themes of the project. The masterclasses are open to the public, as they are streamed online on the Youtube Channel of Astragali Teatro (https://www.youtube.com/@astragaliteatro1594), where the participants of the project and the audience can follow the interventions of artists, experts, professors about the various themes such as the use of augmented and virtual reality in the performing arts, the myth of Antigone, the ecological and environmental aspect in the art. On Thursday 22 and Friday 23 June the last cycle of the project live streaming masterclasses were organized, held by Marie Albert, Mary J. Yossi and Vincenzo Cuomo.

→ The first masterclass focused on the dialectic relationship between performing arts and new technologies is coordinated by AVR Lab from the University of Salento and is named as “The Dark Euphoria Experience”. The speaker is Marie Albert – Dark Euphoria from France. Μarie Albert is passionate about transdisciplinary innovation and the crossroads between art, science and technology. With 15 years of experience in the development of art & innovation projects, she joined Dark Euphoria at the beginning of 2021 to produce artistic experiences playing with immersive and interactive technologies. Having a passion for the performing arts, she is curating the event “Performing arts, digital stages” at Festival d’Avignon.

→ The second masterclass, named as “Maria Zambrano at Colonus”, on Thursday 22 June is coordinated by Theatre tsi Zakynthos, focused on the important aspect of the myth of Antigone and the work of Maria Zambrano “The tomb of Antigone”. The speaker is Prof. Mary J. Yossi from Greece. She is Professor Emeritus of Classics, School of Philosophy, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she has dealt with ancient Greek literature, Greek tragedy, the poetics of Plato and Aristotle, Greek lyric poetry, Religion and Ancient Greek Mythology. She is the author of numerous essays and publications and is also very active as a translator (many of her translations have been staged at the Epidaurus Festival). She also co-edited (with Maria Laïna and Anna Chrysogelou-Katsi) the Thematic Anthology of Modern Greek Tales in five volumes. Her poems have been translated into English, French, Italian and Spanish. She has lectured and seminared at the Universities of Florida (Gainesville), South Florida (Tampa), St Joseph’s (Philadelphia), State University of New York (Centre of Hellenic Studies), Hunter College (CUNY), Boston University and Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass.). In September 2016 she presented at the International Conference Ecos y Resplandores Helenos en la Literatura Hispana XVI al XXI, held in Athens, a selection of poems by Maria Zambrano. She is currently working with Christos Siorikis on the translation of “La tomba di Antigone” by Maria Zambrano.

→ The last masterclass is coordinated by Astragali Teatro and is focused on the philosophical dimension of ecological issue and is titled as “Inspiration and Transduction in an Eco-ontological Perspective”. The speaker is Vincenzo Cuomo from Italy, who is a scholar of aesthetics and philosophy of technology. He is editor of the international journal of philosophy Kaiak- A Philosophical Journey (www.kaiak-pj.it) and is a member of the Italian Society of Aesthetics. He was adjunct professor at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples. Among his latest monographic publications are: Eccitazioni mediali (Kaiak edizioni, Pompei 2014); A cartography of techno-art. The field of the non-symbolic (Cronopio Edizioni, Naples 2017; trans. French L’Harmattan 2029); Aporie d’Artaud. Cruelty, soul, dance (Kaiak Edizioni, Pompeii 2018); Wozu Heidegger? Art in the (long) Neolithic crisis (Aracne, Rome 2020).
