Antigone’s Cantica – Wroclaw

image  – Performance Cantica Antigonae

In the beautiful natural park of Wroclaw on the banks of the river Oder the international, multilingual performance Cantica Antigonae, directed by Fabio Tolledi was presented in the night of 13 June. It was the second site- specific performative step of this cross-disciplinary project, as the first was in the forest of the Funte Castaño in the city of La Alberca (Spain) and the last will be at the natural park of Le Cesine at Lecce. This time, the performance took place in a park, crossed by the Odra river on the outskirts of the city of Wroclaw, a meeting point for the habitants of the city. The aspect of the site-specific performance was successfully enhanced even this time, as the audience had the chance to live a ritual experience inside the park. Furthermore, the AVR lab of the University of Salento together with technicians of the Alicia Alonso Dance Foundation of the University of Rey Juan Carlos and of the Grotowski Institute, gave an additional poetic dimension through the AVR images projected in different corners of the park with the use of augmented and virtual reality tools. The poetic words of “The Tomb of Antigone” by Maria Zambrano, the funeral and traditional songs from different countries, polyphonic songs from many different cultures, theatrical actions that dealt with the theme of immigration, loss, war, all seen through the lens of Antigone created the polyprismatic material of the performance.
